Elvis bought this 1971 Mercedes 280SL roadster for Priscilla around Christmas 1970. Reportedly she claims it has always been her favorite car. It’s not hard to imagine he saw a tiny bit of the ’58 BMW 507 convertible he had leased when stationed in Germany.

As an insurance adjuster in Southern California in 1979, I handled a claim on this vehicle. It was apparently stolen, then recovered with moderate damage – wheels/tires, stereo, some trim damage, etc. Never did talk to Mrs. Presley, though.
