Elvis became a big fan of the Stutz Motor Car Company, resurrected from 1930s fame by a New York banker in 1968. Built around a ’69 Pontiac Grand Prix chassis and frame, they were powered by a choice of General Motors V8 engines. By 1970, two Stutz Blackhawk prototypes had been completed – the second one of which was given to the first U.S. dealership in Beverly Hills to use as a sales demonstrator. This prototype built in 1970 was registered as a ’71, the first model year production cars were made through 1987.
