(Top left) On the back of ECE engine cylinder heads, you’ll find an “822” stenciled in paint.  (Top right) A code stamping at the front top of the engine will display “HV” as the last two characters. (Bottom) – late 1988 high output M117 V8s designed for catalytic converters featured a “10:1” stamping at the end, referencing the compression ratio.
